30 km to the west of Ramgarh this dam was constructed with the purpose of supplying water to Patratu Thermal Power Station. Water from the river Nalkarni and from the waterfalls of the hills surrounding this dam is stored in this dam. The total storage capacity of this dam is 81 square miles. It is a beautiful tourist spot and throughout the year particularly during the winter season a large number of people visit here for picnics. There is a circuit house beside the dam. The Panchawahini temple adjacent to the dam is an ancient temple and significant for its religious value. This dam is also known as Nalkarni dam which presents beautiful scenes owing to its beautiful sceneries and serpentine ways made on the hills which borders the dam from 3 sides.

Not many people know about this waterfall. But Such beautiful place to chill not at all risky.And the sight is worth while.If planning for a getaway near a fall this must be your place.Located in the villages of patratu.this is much better than other waterfalls nearby Ranchi. The best part about Palani is that its a safer place as compared to other waterfalls even though the rocks are a bit slippery. The height at which water falls is quite high (~80 m). It's less polluted and it's still in its natural form.Highly recommended. If you are visiting Patratu dam, I would recommend that you visit this place too. It's only 3 km from Patratu dam .
